The House Spa at Dormy House
This is a spa with a serious mission and a light-hearted touch. (Signs remind you to “Switch off you mobile phone and come to your senses.”) The aim is to meet every desire of the leisure guest. That includes the day spa connoisseur – a wide range of packages have been devised to pamper to every mood – the exhausted hotel guest who wants to lie by the 16m candlelit infinity pool, and the fitness enthusiast who wants to swim in it.
Dig a little deeper and the fun continues. There’s a Rasul Mud Room adjacent to a couple’s treatment room, so that couples (or good friends) can slather themselves in mud and salt and enjoy a deep-heat steam together. There’s a Veuve Clicquot Champagne nail bar (The Nail Parlour) where your butter London manicure or pedicure can be accompanied by a glass of something bubbly. The Naughty, Nice and Nutritious options in the spa lounge set the tone and nowhere does House Spa take itself too seriously.
The Greenhouse spa lounge is at the heart of the new space, a natural complement to The Garden Room restaurant and The Potting Shed bar in the hotel. There’s a striking modern fireplace, lots of glass and a large terrace overlooking the countryside and golf club next door.
English spa brand Temple Spa is a perfect match for the humour of House Spa, with its quirky mix of indulgent ingredients, named with fun. The brand is inspired by a Mediterranean diet and lifestyle and includes the intensely rich ingredients like Black Truffle and Gold. Temple Spa have also developed a House Spa signature treatment based on local Cotswold lavender – the Silent Night Sleep treatment is guaranteed to give you sweet dreams.
One of the most unusual features of House Spa is the combination of a 24-hour gym with a bookable Personal Training Studio, where experienced fitness coaches will be on hand to motivate members in a ratio of at least 1:3. Limited memberships are available and include 50 free personal training sessions a year, worth £2,000.
